It’s apple season! And more importantly for us, it’s organic apple season.
We’re celebrating organic apples at the 7th annual Organic Apple Festival at the Rodale Institute in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, TODAY, Saturday, September 19th! We invite you to come on down and join us for a fun-filled day of apple picking, a 5-K race, live music, family-friendly activities, and organic hot dogs grilled up by Maria Rodale herself!
What’s so great about organic apples? Everything! They’re delicious, healthy, and grown without toxic pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides. Because the truth is, those conventionally grown apples you see at the store—you know, the ones that look picture-perfect and are completely spotless and waxed shiny? Those are some of the most pesticide-contaminated fruits in the entire produce section! They’re number #1 on Environmental Working Group’s annual Dirty Dozen produce list. Yikes!
Every apple at the Organic Apple Festival will be delicious, nutritious, and toxin free…And picking them yourself is a quintessential fall activity you won’t want to miss. From pie baking to applesauce making, they’re the perfect fall ingredient for sweet and savory recipes—the fall harvest we love so much in Eastern PA. Rodale’s has what you need for peeling your apples, storing the fruits of your labor, and baking them, with nontoxic cookware and bakeware for every recipe.
We hope to see you at the Festival! And for all those who can’t make it today, you can still enjoy the signature drink of Maria’s Farm Country Kitchen organic hot dog stand, the Apple Cider Float, by using the recipe below.
