I’m Going to Hollywood, Baby!

This week is Spring Break, but instead of going on a family vacation, I am taking my family to work with me in California. Since we are all American Idol fans, even Lucia is walking around saying “Hollywood, baby!”

First I’m going to be taping an episode of The Doctors to promote my book, Organic Manifesto. I’m a little nervous—even though it’s taped, it’s in front of a live audience—which I’ve been coached to not even dare look at, since it makes your eyes look funny on TV. Apparently, Travis Stork is really handsome—he was an official Bachelor after all, but he is a real doctor, he doesn’t just play one on TV. Another guest taping that day is Gene Simmons…yes, the one from KISS! I’ll let you all know how it goes and when it airs!

Then we are off to the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim. It’s a huge trade show where you can taste every new food on the planet that has some redeeming quality to it. I am doing a panel called “Organic Matters,” with Dr. Chuck Benbrook, from the Organic Center, Dag Falck, from Nature’s Path Foods, Theresa Marquez, from Organic Valley, and registered dietician Ashley Koff. It’s on Friday at 1:00…so come on down! The first 100 people to arrive will get a FREE copy of my book, AND I’ll be signing them before the panel starts, beginning around 12:30, if you want me to.

I look forward to seeing a lot of old friends at Expo West, and also seeing what’s new on the market. I’ll be sure to share what I find with you!

Of course, we’ll be squeezing in a little fun time, too. I’m looking forward to taking Eve to Fred Segal in Santa Monica to shop, shop, shop. We are staying at the Chateau Marmont, so I’m hoping she sees some celebrities.

Then, of course, since we are going to Anaheim, we will be taking Lucia to Disneyland. Which is perfect timing, since she is in her Disney Princess phase and insists I play the Disney Princess music on iTunes at least three times every day. I have a strong feeling she will be wearing a Snow White dress for the next few months.

As you know, I’ve been talking about some serious, shocking things in Organic Manifesto. But while we are still alive, life goes on. Our challenge is to balance the right choices and effective actions with the things that give us all pleasure and joy.

Break a leg Maria! I hope that you and your family have a safe trip. Have fun, eat well and learn, learn, learn. I am looking forward to hearing about your adventures, what you learned at the Expo, and if you found more good farm-to-table restaurants to add to your growing list. Good luck with the sale of your wonderful, informative book. Happy traveling!

I’m very excited to start reading your book. It sounds very intriguing. Enjoy your time with your family and have a wonderful time at Disney with your baby girl! My daughter would love to be in your daughter shoes!

Bring your own bottled water to Disneyland. If you buy it there it is super expensive. The water from the drinking fountains is undrinkable, Horrible stuff!

Let us know if you find any organic food there. I couldn’t when I was there last summer.
Other than that, you will have a great time!

I caught your panel discussion at Expo. I didn’t realize you were giving away books so I walked right past the lineup of people and just took a seat. After that inspiring discussion, I’m looking forward to reading the book. Thanks so much for breaking down the discussion in a very understandable (to the masses) way. I’m looking forward to sharing it!
