12 Days of Winter Meditations: Day 7

Ice: Priorities

Ice is not soft and peaceful like its sister snow. Ice is loud, stinging, and dangerous. We get a lot of ice in Pennsylvania. And when it comes, if you can, the best thing to do is just stop. Take stock. What is really important? What really matters? Food, warmth, water, family, love; all those other things don’t really matter. The shopping, the gifts, the chips and dips, the fancy outfits with sparkles—none of that really matters.

Are you prepared if the power goes out? Are you prepared if everything just has to stop for a bit? What are the things you can’t live without? What are the things that matter most to you? Protect them. Keep them safe and warm. Show your gratitude and love.

And for lord’s sake, stay off the roads!

I love this whole series so far. Thanks for doing it again. (This post lacks in depth, but it is sincere.)
