12 Days of Winter Meditations: Day 2

Light: Flame of Love

With the solstice comes the return of light and the promise that for every dark moment there will be a bright one. Almost every country in the world has a celebration of light to honor the illumination that is given by the sun, moon, and stars. Those lights are external to us, although essential to our survival.

Just as essential is the light inside of you. Can you feel it? The Moravians call it “the flame of love,” and they light beeswax candles and sing to celebrate the flame of love inside each of us. Close your eyes and think of the light inside of you that illuminates your whole being. Feel the glow. Let it shine.
